FEATURED SESSIONS I (10:20 AM - 11:10 AM)

PANEL: CULTURES OF INNOVATION: CRACKING THE CODE

  • Speaker: Tyson Tuttle, Silicon Labs
  • Interviewer: Saneel Radia, R/GA

Location: Capital Factory - Mobility X (1st Floor).

Capacity: 60

Companies live and die on innovation. How does a company’s purpose and need to successfully innovate come together when they can often feel at odds? How do employees successfully come along for the journey while still feeling secure in their employment and value to the company? This session shares examples and leads an interactive discussion on how a company’s values and culture are intimately connected to solving tough, breakthrough problems and driving business success.

WORKSHOP: A NEW PLAYBOOK FOR BELONGING, RISK-TAKING, AND HIGH PERFORMANCE

  • Speaker: Rajkumari Neogy, iRestart

Location: Capital Factory - Antone's (16th Floor)

In this workshop, Raj uses a research-based framework to help you understand how to optimize team performance and create a “permanent shift” by integrating diverse mindsets, strengthening relationships and building unity around shared values.

Please note: Raj will lead a Core Conversation in the subsequent breakout sessions, focused on improving your language and vocabulary to become a better leader. That Core Conversation will be available exclusively to attendees of this Featured Session, as the material in the second session will build on the first. Attendees of this Featured Session are not, however, required to attend the Core Conversation.

PANEL: LESSONS FROM BURNING MAN: MANAGING CULTURE ON THE OUTSIDE

  • Speaker: Victoria Mitchell, Burning Man Project
  • Interviewer: Josh Levine, Great Mondays & Culture LabX

Location: Capital Factory - Austin City Limits (16th Floor)

Capacity: 130

Burning Man is a centerpiece case study in Josh Levine’s newest book, Great Mondays. Can you really manage people you technically have no control over? How does one build culture both inside and out? Brands rely on external communities more than ever. Immerse yourself in this fascinating look at creating and managing culture on the outside through the story of one of the largest-ever global movements and participant-driven communities.

WORKSHOP: IDENTIFYING AND UPROOTING UNCONSCIOUS BIAS IN YOUR EXECUTIVE TEAM

  • Speaker: Mindy Gulati, Fundamental Advisory & Legacy Fund LLP

Location: Omni Hotel - Bouquets (1st Floor)

Capacity: 80

Executives and executive teams are usually over-confident when it comes to bias. We imagine that our managers and employees would benefit from unconscious bias training, but we seldom see the need for ourselves. Yet everyone has unconscious biases that affect our actions and decision-making. Mindy Gulati is a former criminal defense attorney and litigator who now spends her time training teams of all kinds and sizes in matters related to bias. She leads attendees through a hands-on workshop that will help you understand above all else the bias we have about bias, and what to do about it next.

PANEL: MOTIVATE ME: FAIR, TRANSPARENT COMPENSATION

  • Speaker: Bud Caddell, Founder, NOBL
  • Interviewer: Christine McCarey, Founder & CEO, ImpactDEI, LLC

Location: Omni Hotel - Executive (2nd Floor)

Capacity: 55

For many people, compensation opens up an emotional minefield, filled with uncertainty, insecurity, and even trauma. When managers clearly communicate about compensation, it de-stigmatizes conversations about money; it also gives them a framework to ensure consistency when setting compensation for their teams. In this session, you will hear about the real-life experiences of companies who have made every pay structure and even salaries knowable to the whole company. Even if you have no plans to make pay transparent, we will explore steps you can take to make your employees know they are being paid fairly.

WORKSHOP: THE SCIENCE OF MOTIVATION AND PERFORMANCE

  • Speaker: Bud Bhattacharyya, Vega Factor

Location: Omni Hotel - Liberty (2nd Floor)

Capacity: 35

Bud Bhattacharyya and Vega Factor help engineer high performing organizations and teams using the science of Total Motivation. Their book, Primed to Perform, was the basis of our Culturati Connect event last year in NYC and we’re delighted to bring this content to our Summit as well. Bud explains the counterintuitive science behind legendary cultures like Apple, Starbucks, and Southwest Airlines, how “total motivation” leads to huge improvements in the two kinds of performance that matter, and the specific measures you can take that will lead to both higher performance and a more engaged workforce.
